Coastal inspiration:

My travels to the south of France, especially Provence and Normandy, inspired me to make this dish. These coastal cities are known for their fresh seafood that is cooked with simple, flavorful ingredients. While it is a modern recipe enjoyed around the world, its classic combination of butter, garlic, herbs, and seafood reflects the timeless influence of French cuisine, making it an easy yet sophisticated meal for any occasion.

Benefits of shrimp:

Shrimp is a great source of lean protein. Although it is high in dietary cholesterol, it is low in saturated fats. Shrimp is rich in vitamins D and B, omega-3 fatty acids, phosphorus, magnesium, zinc, and selenium. If you are not allergic to shrimp, this low-calorie seafood, rich in key nutrients, is a good source of antioxidants like astaxanthin.

Tips:

  1. Shrimp is a delicate seafood that requires only 2-3 minutes of cooking at high heat. Overcooking shrimp will toughen their texture and make them rubbery.
  2. Pan-sear the shrimp in small batches to ensure they stay crisp. Cooking a large batch will steam the shrimp and not produce tender, yet crispy and succulent shrimp.
  3. Ideally, you need to prepare or clean the shrimp and have them ready to go. Peel the shrimp and devein or clean them by removing the black digestive tract or shrimp waste. I have left the tails on. Rinse and follow the instructions on the recipe card.
  4. Pat the shrimp dry before pan-searing to prevent them from steaming rather than frying to a crisp.
  5. Shake off any excess flour before pan-frying the shrimp.
  6. Use European butter, which has a high fat content, for this Easy Garlic Butter Recipe. Butter is a culinary hallmark of French cuisine, so using good-quality butter is essential.
  7. Parsley is not just used for garnish, but it actually balances the richness of the butter.

Serving suggestions:

Serve the easy Garlic Butter Shrimp over pasta, steamed vegetables, or with rice pilaf as a main course. Serve it with crusty bread as an appetizer.

Storage:

You could freeze leftovers in freezer-safe boxes for 1-2 months, but this dish tastes best when freshly made. Make small batches to prevent having leftover food.
